INSTRUCTIONS FOR DAY OF SURGERY:
Please do NOT eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery unless you have been instructed to do so by your physician. This includes water, coffee, soda, juice or any other liquids. Eating or drinking before surgery can lead to serious complication! Please be advised this also includes chewing gum and breathe mints! We understand this may be uncomfortable for some, but it is important you have a completely empty stomach prior to the administration of anesthesia.
If you have any medication allergies or are taking blood thinner such as aspirin, nsaids, plavix, lovenox, coumadin please notify your surgeon for any special instructions.
Be sure to wear comfortable, casual clothing and do not wear makeup, nail polish, fragrances, contact lenses or jewelry. You will be provided a locker but we recommend you leave anything of value at home. Also it is very important you remove all body piercing.
A competent adult must drive you to and from the center and must remain with you after surgery for twenty four hours. This is for your safety since you will be administered anesthesia that may have effect for this period of time. We do require all parents or guardians remain in the building while children are in surgery.
IF YOUR ARE TAKING ANY MEDICATIONS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
- Please do NOT take any of the following medication on the day of surgery:
Medication for Diabetes, Insulin, Glucophage, Glynade,Humulin, Novolin, NPH Insulin,Amaryl, Diabeta, Diabinese, Glucotorl, or Micronase
- Please do NOT take any medication for High Cholesterol.
- Please do NOT take any water pills such as Lasix, (Furosimide) Dyazide, Maxide, Bumex, HCTX/Triamterene, Edecrin,Aldactone,Midamor,Diuril, Enduron or Zarozolyn.
- Please be sure to take all Heart, Blood Pressure, Thyrod, Anti-seizure and Anxiety medications with a SIP of water only.
