Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find directions to the Ambulatory Care Center?

We are located at 1133 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360-5001. For additional questions, call us at 865-507-0800.

What are the hours of operation for the Ambulatory Care Center?

Our clinical hours of operation are 7:00 am – 3:30 p.m.

Will I be able to drive myself home after surgery?

No. You must have a responsible adult take you home after any procedure requiring sedation or anesthesia. You will also need someone to assist you at home. This is for your safety. Uber or taxi drivers are not a responsible drive home, therefore they are not permitted.

When will I be able to go home?

Everyone reacts differently to surgery and anesthesia, therefore recovery times are dependent upon each patient. When you are awake, doing well and feel ready to go home, your nurse will review your post-operative instructions with your responsible party and discharge you. If you receive anesthesia or sedation, you will need to have a responsible adult with you for the first 24 hours to help you with your care.

What should I wear the day of my procedure?

You will be provided a surgical gown during your procedure. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Leave all jewelry and valuables at home. Please keep in mind what procedure is being performed and bring clothes that are appropriate for your return home. Be sure to wear something that will easily accommodate a bandage, cast or other type of dressing at your surgical site.

Will friends and family be permitted to leave the building while I am in surgery?

Yes, cell phone numbers are requested as a point of contact for the party providing transportation. However, the parents of minors are asked to remain in the building.

Is food and drink available in the building?

No. A soft drink is provided to the post-operative patient, however, family members are asked to avoid eating or drinking while in the building.

Do I need to remove my nail polish?

Yes, we request nail polish to be removed.

Do I need to remove my body piercing?

Yes. All body piercing, jewelry and valuables must be removed and left home.

Will I have the chance to meet with the anesthesiologist prior to my surgery?

Yes. Upon your arrival at the Ambulatory Care Center, you will meet with the anesthesiologist. They will ask a series of questions regarding your medical history and perform a brief physical examination. They will then discuss different types of anesthesia and prescribe the best option for you.

Can someone come with me to my appointment?

Adult patients may bring one support person with them. Minors and patients with special needs must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

What if I have latex allergies?

If you have been informed by your physician that you have a rubber or latex allergy, please consult your surgeon. He or she will determine if you are a candidate for surgery at the Ambulatory Care Center. If you suspect you may be allergic to latex, review the questions below. If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, please consult your surgeon.

  • Do exhibit itching, sneezing, shortness of breath or wheezing when you come in contact with latex products?
  • If you have had previous surgery or dental procedures, have you exhibited the above symptoms?
  • Are you allergic to banana, papaya, avocado, kiwi, tomato, raw potato, or chestnuts
